Prior to the Annual Convocation, our Grand Superintendent had undergone back surgery which unfortunately took its toll on him and he became seriously ill in December, causing great anxiety to everyone. Miraculously he recovered and it is now pleasing to see him back amongst us.
In January 2006 it was announced that he would be retiring shortly before his 75th birthday this year. He will be sadly missed for his great leadership skills. At the meeting of 4090 held at Letchworth on 22nd March 2006 John Ilott presented Alec with a cheque in recognition of his exemplary service to the Royal Arch in Hertfordshire. All of the Chapters in the Province contributed. In addition to this, Tony Lapsley ProvGJan presented Alec with a Ceremonial Sword for the Province.
Alec was succeeded by John Ilott who was installed on 15th May 2006 by the Reverend Cannon Neil Collings. Alan Ward was appointed Deputy Grand Superintendent, Ian Clift became Second Provincial Grand Principal and Alan Wiffen Third Provincial Grand Principal.
