The article under the heading DC's Corner regarding the wearing of jewels, prompted a response from John Atkinson requesting clarification as to the wearing of a RA and PZ jewel together.
Paul Ostwind responds that the RA jewel should always be worn. Not all Chapters present the outgoing First Principal with a PZ jewel and although any approved jewel may be worn at the appropriate time, common sense should prevail and no more than 2 breast jewels should be worn. Precedence must obviously be given to the RA Jewel and in the period leading up to the 2009 Festival the Stewards Jewel if you are entitled to wear it.
Craft Past Masters jewels are out of place in Chapters and RA Centenary jewels are perhaps best reserved for special occasions only. Breast jewels are just that and should not be worn attached to a collar. The wearing of a solitary RA jewel is perhaps the best possible constant reminder of the answer to that question we were all asked at an early stage of our Masonic career, Where were you first prepared to be made a Freemason?
