On Thursday, 1st May 2025, a momentous occasion unfolded at the Grand Temple in Great Queen Street. The Grand Temple, filled to capacity, witnessed a significant event presided over by the 1st Grand Principal, HRH The Duke of Kent. This regular Convocation of the Supreme Grand Chapter marked a memorable day for numerous Hertfordshire Companions who were appointed to and received promotions within the Grand Rank.
The grandeur of the Grand Temple set a fitting backdrop for the Convocation. The event commenced with the formalities of the Supreme Grand Chapter, which is the governing body of Royal Arch Masonry. The ceremony was marked by tradition, decorum, and respect, befitting the solemnity of the occasion. HRH The Duke of Kent, with his dignified presence, added to the gravity of the event and all in attendance received him with enthusiastic and sustained applause.

Appointments
The highlight of the Convocation was undoubtedly the announcement of appointments and promotions. From Hertfordshire, Excellent Companions Iain Green, Paul Spreckley and Gary Sereno received First Appointments to Past Assistant Grand Directors of Ceremony, reward for their past achievements within the Province and most importantly in anticipation of theirfurther endeavours.
Promotions
Promotions within the Grand Rank were also a significant aspect of the Convocation. Excellent Companion Robert Asser was promoted to Past Grand Sword Bearer and Excellent Companion John Linley to Past Grand Standard Bearer.
The appointments and promotions serve not only as a recognition of individual efforts but also as an inspiration to the wider Masonic community. They highlight the values of commitment, service, and excellence that the Supreme Grand Chapter upholds. The honoured Companions are seen as role models, embodying the principles of Royal Arch Masonry.
Following the Convocation those Companions who had received honours were joined in celebration by several other Companions from Hertfordshire at a drinks reception in the Gallery Suite at Freemasons Hall before an enjoyable lunch at the Grand Connaught Rooms.
