It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Colin Harris, a cherished and highly respected Companion of Royal Arch Masonry, whose dedicated service and unwavering commitment to the Craft left a lasting legacy across the Province of Hertfordshire and beyond.

Colin’s distinguished Masonic journey was marked by decades of loyal service, exemplary conduct, and a profound devotion to the principles of Royal Arch Masonry. His Masonic career reflected both the esteem in which he was held and the depth of his contribution.

Colin was Exalted into Old Albanian Chapter 28th April 1973 and subsequently joined Hertfordshire First Principals Chapter No. 4090, White Star Chapter No. 8728, Westminster and Keystone Chapter (London) No. 10, Hertfordshire Provincial Grand Stewards Chapter No. 8984 and Harpenden Chapter No. 4314.

He was first honoured in the Province of Hertfordshire as Past Provincial Grand Registrar (PProvGReg) on 1st November 1999, having previously held the active rank of Past Provincial Assistant Grand Sojourner (PProvAGSoj) since 2nd November 1992.

In Supreme Grand Chapter, Colin was appointed Second Assistant Grand Sojourner (AGSoj) on 29th April 2004, followed by further preferment as Past Deputy Grand Sword Bearer (PDepGSwdB) on 26th April 2007, and subsequently as Past Grand Sword Bearer (PGSwdB) on 28th April 2011. In his final Grand Chapter appointment as Grand Scribe N (GSN) on 1st May 2014.

In Craft masonry, Colin’s first appointment in the Province was in 1990 as Provincial Grand Registrar. This was followed by appointments to Provincial Deputy Grand Director of Ceremonies in 1992, Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies in 1996, prior to becoming Past Provincial Senior Warden in 1998. He was then appointed Assistant Provincial Grand Master in 1999 and received his patent as RW Provincial Grand Master of Hertfordshire in 2003. In 2015 Brother Colin became a member of the Grand Stewards Lodge.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Colin’s family, friends, and all Companions who had the honour of sharing his Masonic journey. May he rest in eternal peace, his labours complete, and his memory ever cherished.
