James Terry Chapter No. 2301 (formerly 2372)– Jewel presentation

On Sat 12th April 2025, E.Comp. Jason Roberts – Gresham Chapter 869, and Comp. Ron Garrett St Michael’s Chapter 2136, enjoyed a wonderful occasion visiting James Terry Chapter 2301 in Copenhagen. This regular meeting saw a superb double exaltation ceremony, all carried out in a highly-capable manner, with the Domatic ritual having been previously translated and then delivered in Danish.

The Principals and Grand Officers of James Terry Chapter 2301, with E.Comp. Jason Roberts, Comp. Ron Garrett and the jewels.

A highlight of the meeting was E.Comp. Jason Roberts having the privilege of presenting two James Terry Chapter jewels, both of which were generously donated by E.Comp. Andrew Howard, currently the Third Principal of Stortford Chapter 409.

The first jewel was originally presented to Andrew as a memento at his exaltation into James Terry Chapter on the 14th June 2007, with it being a Centenary Jewel to mark the Chapter’s Consecration on the 20th July 1892. Andrew became a collector of Masonic jewels, and on the 30th March 2017, he was able to purchase a vintage, James Terry Chapter PZ jewel.

This particular jewel, which is undoubtedly one of the finest examples of craftmanship and detail that is rarely seen these days, was presented to E.Comp. F.J.W. Boatman to mark his time as First Principal of the Chapter between 1963-1964 – over 60 years ago!

The Danish Companions of James Terry Chapter were absolutely thrilled to receive these jewels, as they have offered them tangible pieces of history that they can now keep and enjoy permanently. It took no time at all for the jewels to proudly find a new home within the Royal Arch display cabinet at the Frimurerhuset, Fredriksberg, Copenhagen.

During the presentation of the jewels, E.Comp Jason Roberts was able to quote what E.Comp Andrew Howard had said to him when handing him the jewels to take to Denmark… ‘I am so pleased to be donating these jewels to James Terry Chapter in Denmark, as I feel that is where they belong’. A statement that needed no further explanation.

Later, at the Festive Board, E.Comp. Jason and Comp. Ron were able to express their sincere thanks to the Danish Companions for their endless warmth and hospitality, and for continuing to maintain the strong relationship that exists within Royal Arch Masonry of Hertfordshire and Denmark.
