Dear Companion,
At the Provincial Annual Convocation in 2019, the Most Excellent Grand Superintendent announced the launch of the Matched Funding Grant Initiative from the Provincial Benevolent Fund, and in the last 5 years, many Chapters have utilized this financial resource to benefit their chosen local Hertfordshire Charities.
The Matched Funding Grants issued from the Provincial Benevolent Fund have been as follows:
2020 £1,367
2021 £1,000
2022 £3,035
2023 £3,850
2024 to date £5,650
———–
TOTAL £14,902
I am sure you will agree that this initiative has greatly benefited our local communities, particularly during and following the pandemic, when small local charities suffered greatly from the lack of fund raising during that period. As Companions of the Province, you rose to the challenge, and as you can see from the figures above, just short of £15K matched funding grants were issued in addition to those monies raised by the Chapters. A very commendable effort by all the Chapters and Companions in the Province.
However, this initiative has now run its course and with immediate effect, the Most Excellent Grand Superintendent and Executive have taken to decision to suspend the initiative for the foreseeable future. In September 2024, the Provincial Craft Festival 2030 will be launched and the Most Excellent Grand Superintendent has pledged his support to the Provincial Grand Master. It is hoped that the Companions of the Province will rise to the new challenges ahead.
Companions, I thank you for all your past support and we look forward to working with you all in the years to come.
E Comp David J Hampton
Deputy Grand Superintendent
