Amwell View School Charity Visit

At a recent meeting, Stanstead Abbotts Chapter No 9085, amongst several donations, decided to give the sum of £250 to Amwell View School and Sports Academy, located in Stanstead Abbotts, Herts.

The Chapter was delighted to hear that matched funding was available from the Provincial Masonic Relief Chest, the custodians of which approved our application, and gave the same amount making a total of £500 for this very worthy cause.

The school cares for over 160 children and young adults, all with varying degrees of physical or psychological problems, and the wonderful team of dedicated staff work hard to ensure that all pupils are able to reach their full potential and are able to overcome their challenges in life.

Some of the older pupils also assist in their own Charity Shop, located in Stanstead Abbotts High Street, and is well worth a visit. The school has recently purchased the adjacent premises which acts as an additional classroom for the older pupils, based in the community.

A warm welcome to the school from Head Teacher, Mr. Neil Ward, and the staff, enabled E. Comp. Paul Blakemore (Scribe E) and E. Comp. Jim Hounsell (2nd Principal) to meet some of the young pupils and enjoy a chat and a photo opportunity.

Mr. Ward explained that the money will go towards new play equipment for the play area refurbishment that is currently taking place.

This was a very humbling visit on behalf of Stanstead Abbotts Chapter No 9085, and hopefully we will be able to help them again in the future.
